SUNDAY On the long drive between Wellington and Rotorua, our first stop was at Taihape which is the gumboot throwing capital of the world. Gumboots are what we call rain boots. Here in NZ, they throw them as a competition. So strange. But anyway, we had a competition. Aleks won the girls’ round! Yay! And Shannon and I ate some good old American McDonalds. Yumm. Haha. We also stopped and saw some pretty awesome waterfalls. So our next stop was probably the best stop yet. This picture here is of Mount Doom from Lord of the Rings. I’m not a super avid LOTRer but Mount Doom is a huge deal. It is where the ring was created and where it must be destroyed. Pretty freaking awesome. We also saw the main mountain that was Mordor in the movies as well. That picture is up next. Be jealous.
